10 RB sleepers to target for fantasy football Week 9
By Nick Villano
3. Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos finally got back in the win column on Sunday, beating the Washington Football Team that’s floundering in the standings. It’s been a weird week for the Broncos who traded their biggest star. Von Miller’s absence is going to put a hole in the locker room, but sometimes moves like that motivate the players that are left behind.
The Broncos are facing a Dallas Cowboys team that is hoping to get Dak Prescott back into the lineup. They’ve actually been pretty good against the run. However, Gordon is someone who has surprised good defenses before. He will come out of nowhere with a huge run, most of the time going in for pay dirt.
2. David Montgomery, Chicago Bears
This one came out of nowhere for some people, but the Chicago Bears saw David Montogomery practice on Thursday, and he can play as soon as this Sunday. If he’s in the lineup, he should be in your lineup. Montgomery is one of the best fantasy options in the league, hurt or not. The Chicago Bears offense looked really good last week for the first time in a while, and Justin Fields might have found his groove as an NFL quarterback.
Montgomery is a welcomed surprise to fantasy lineups this week if he’s able to go. If not, then fantasy owners should have Damien Williams on the bench. If they both miss the game, well that’s just terrible luck for everyone involved. The Bears are taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are going to try and destroy Fields. T.J. Watt is going to be all over the field, so the Bears need to keep him honest with the running game.
1. Jeremy McNichols, Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans’ offense can be anything. With Derrick Henry out of the lineup, there’s no precedence to know what comes next. One thing is for sure, Jeremy McNichols is worth consideration. He’s already the third-leading receiver on the team behind Julio Jones and A.J. Brown, so he’s at least a really good option in PPR leagues. The Titans are going to keep him moving and he should get a ton of touches in this matchup.
People have picked up and started Adrian Petersen just days after he signed with the Titans. Those people need to calm down. McNichols is the right start here. He knows the offense, and he makes the most sense in the backfield. Ryan Tannehill already has chemistry with him in the passing game, and the Titans are looking to hold onto their number one seed in the AFC.
