The Chiefs will sack Derek Carr four times

The Chiefs’ pass rush was a worry for a minute there. They’re getting right at exactly the right moment.

Chris Jones is healthy. So is Frank Clark. Having those two back to full strength made a difference in victories over the Giants and Packers. Adding Melvin Ingram to the mix in the latter outing also did the trick.

A strong pass rush can mask a lot of ills. Putting consistent pressure on the quarterback takes the pressure off the secondary. And that’s exactly what Kansas City did to make Jordan Love’s life a living hell on Sunday. He was pressured on 49 percent of passing downs. Jones had seven of them. Ingram had four.

The Raiders made it through the last two weeks giving up just one sack. However, they have allowed three or more four times this season. The Chargers brought down Carr four times.

The Chiefs will be able to get after the quarterback and Carr won’t be able to escape as well as Love managed to do. Look for the sack total to go up.
