5 bold predictions for Packers against Seahawks
4. Aaron Jones will get 7+ passing targets
Jones got 12 rushing attempts last week but his role in the Green Bay passing attack was sharply reduced without Rodgers there to feed him the football. The big-play running back was only targeted twice by Jordan Love and finished the game with zero receptions to his name.
That’s a Packers’ trend that will not continue against the Seahawks. Head coach Matt LaFleur will spend a lot of time scheming ways to get the ball into Jones’ hands in space this week. Some of those occasions will certainly be when he runs crisp routes out of his own backfield.
Jones probably won’t go from being shut out to leading his team in catches this week, but he’s going to get plenty of chances to make plays. Look for him to register at least seven targets on the afternoon. It shouldn’t surprise anyone if he comes up with at least five receptions.
The question for Jones will be whether or not he can turn one of those catches into an explosive play for his offense. The Seahawks will focus a lot of defensive attention on him. This is a key matchup to watch when Green Bay has the ball.
