Deshaun Watson, Texans

How could Browns acquire him? A trade, likely when Watson’s value levels out this offseason.

The harsh reality for the Browns is that there aren’t actually very many upgrades on Mayfield out there.

Cleveland could dive into free agency at quarterback but the options are lacking. Are the likes of Tyrod Taylor, Teddy Bridgewater, Jameis Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Taysom Hill really that much better than the quarterback they currently have? Trade options aren’t much more encouraging. Kirk Cousins isn’t the answer in Minnesota, why would he be in Ohio?

If a replacement doesn’t come from the draft, it’ll have to come from a swing for the fences.

Aaron Rodgers fits that bill. So does Deshaun Watson.

According to reports, Watson was only willing to waive his no-trade clause for the Dolphins when it came to trade discussions this year. There might be a shift in thinking once the 2021 season is over and the idea of a trade opens up again.

The Browns have an elite running attack with Nick Chubb and a dangerous pass rush. They have the pieces to win, they just need the QB. That pitch could work on Watson as he looks for a new home.
