4. Top fantasy football pickups for Week 11 – Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton

When potential difference-makers at quarterback pop up we always have to pay attention. Cam Newton’s return to Carolina certainly has the potential to prop up the Panthers’ fantasy options while also giving the one-time franchise icon his groove back.

Despite being non-committal about Newton’s playing time after he signed on Thursday, head coach Matt Rhule made sure to have a few specific packages in place for Newton during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Newton got on the board early with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter and later added a passing touchdown to Robby Anderson for good measure.

It is an admittedly small sample size but Newton looked as electric in his few opportunities as he did in his heyday as an NFL MVP in 2015. The fact that the Panthers made sure to get Newton into the game on Sunday also bodes well for his chances to get into the starting lineup as soon as Week 11.

Newton is rostered in just 16 percent of Yahoo leagues but that percentage should skyrocket ahead of a Week 11 matchup with the Washington Football Team. Owners in need of help at quarterback could roll the dice on Newton landing in a good situation with plenty of weapons and a creative offensive coordinator equalling a potential QB1 down the stretch.
