2. Correa completely disrespected and trashed Yankees hero Derek Jeter

For better and worse, New York is a town and team that holds its legends close to its heart. The Yankees are truly a long-standing family that, if you perform well there, the organization and fans will almost surely love you forever.

Few people and players have exemplified that phenomenon better than recent Hall of Fame inductee and New York royalty, Derek Jeter. There’s no better way to pick a fight with a Yanks fan than to start questioning the credentials and credibility of Jeter as one of the greatest MLB players to ever take the field.

So when Carlos Correa recently said that Jeter didn’t deserve any of his five Gold Glove wins, that was something that should send off alarm bells throughout the organization:

For as talented as Correa is, that type of attitude isn’t going to do him any favors in New York. He would have to recognize the fact that he’s trying to fill Jeter’s shoes at shortstop, not better No. 2. And based on his comments about the Yanks legend, that doesn’t seem like a role he’s particularly willing to step into.
