Bold Prediction #3: Devonta Smith will prove himself as the starter

Devonta Smith has been another frustrating player this season. In fact, the entire Philadelphia Eagles offense has been a mound of frustration. Just ask Miles Sanders what he thinks of their sudden reliance on the running game. However, Smith takes it up a notch.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner’s rookie season has been all over the place. He has four games with at least 19 points in PPR leagues, but he also has four games with under six points. Those games where he falls below expectations are absolute killers.

Smith now has two gigantic weeks in a row. There have been a few big receivers on bye weeks or down with injuries, so a lot of teams have been putting Smith in the lineup. This week, he will establish himself as a starter for the rest of the season. He has learned how to turn his blazing speed into the ultimate asset on the field. Jalen Hurts knows when to look for him as a scoring threat.

The New Orleans Saints have a reputation as a great defense, but they actually struggle against great wide receivers. They are allowing 39 points per game to the wide receiver position, the fourth-worst in the league. Smith is going to have a monster game this week again, and then he’s looking at matchups with the Giants and Jets after it.
