The Mac Jones stat will have Patriots fans smiling
By Scott Rogust
New England Patriots fans have to be smiling after seeing this statistic regarding rookie quarterback Mac Jones.
The New England Patriots, looking to find their successor to Tom Brady, selected Mac Jones with the 15th-overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. By the end of training camp, Jones was named New England’s Week 1 starter. So far, the results have been great for both Jones and the Patriots.
Entering Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, Jones had a 6-4 record as the Patriots starter. Sure enough, he single handedly has more wins than fellow rookie quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Justin Fields and Davis Mills combined!
Mac Jones leads fellow rookie quarterbacks in wins
Well, that graphic is a bit outdated now, as Jones is now 7-4 in his first season following the Patriots’ 25-0 win over the Falcons on Thursday night.
New England got off to a slow start to the season, as they went 2-4 following their overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. Yet, they have been on fire ever since, thanks in part to the defense and the play of Jones.
Against the Falcons, Jones completed 22-of-26 of his passes for 207 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Overall, Jones has thrown for 2,540 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 70.2-percent of his passes.
If Patriots fans were not sold on Jones beforehand, they have to be now based on his play. Jones and New England will now pivot to a big Week 12 matchup against a Tennessee Titans team that holds the best record in the AFC as of this writing.
