18. Utah Utes

It felt like the majority of college football analysts and prognosticators were backing Oregon heading into their massive Pac-12 battle with Utah, largely because the Utes were favored at home. As it turns out, there’s a reason Las Vegas looks the way it does as the oddsmakers had it right and, in fact, probably should’ve made the line higher.

It’s really a shame that Utah didn’t turn to quarterback Cameron Rising earlier in the season because this team has been on another level since that change was made. Alas, they got their signature win against the Ducks in blowout fashion and now they are almost surely heading to the Pac-12 Championship Game.

17. Iowa Hawkeyes

Iowa won another game but it’s hard to feel like the Hawkeyes are really impressing anyone at this point. They beat a now 4-7 Illinois team by just 10 points at home and failed to score more than one offensive touchdown on the day, relying instead on a 100-yard kickoff return and a pick-six to help them secure the win.

Look, the Hawkeyes have been at their best when their defense is making plays, so this game is very much in that basket. However, there aren’t many teams in the AP Top 25 that you feel could lose to anyone on any given day on the level that you should probably feel that way about Iowa.
