The Browns were lucky to beat the winless Lions on Sunday. Kevin Stefanski may have gotten the win, but he shouldn’t escape some major criticism for how it all went down.

Baker Mayfield has been banged up for much of this season. He looked like the walking wounded when the Browns trotted him out to play the Lions. And he played like it too with two interceptions on the day.

Mayfield’s performance hurt Cleveland but he’s not to blame for it. The head coach put him in that position despite it being very clear he wasn’t at his best physically. Kudos to Mayfield for toughing it out. Shame on Stefanski for putting him out there.

It wasn’t just playing Mayfield that made no sense. Asking him to throw as much as he did when the Browns could have just handed the ball off to Nick Chubb was egregious coaching.

Stefanski’s Browns are 6-5 and underperforming their roster at this point. He has to answer for that.
