On Sunday, as mentioned, the Dallas defense was far from the problem. Largely thanks to a heroic effort from rookie linebacker and Defensive Rookie of the Year shoo-in Micah Parsons, the ‘Boys held the Chiefs to only 19 points on the day and, frankly, did everything in their power to keep the team in the game and give the offense a chance to steal a win.

The offense, obviously, did not take the defense up on that offer. But when you look at this defense led by coordinator Dan Quinn, one thing that is becoming problematic is that they are piecing together a quality unit but also not putting every player in the best possible position to succeed.

A massive reason for that is the injuries to defensive ends DeMarcus Lawerence and Randy Gregory. The former has been out since early in the year when he suffered a broken foot in practice while Gregory was also injured in practice, but quite recently so. That’s why we’re looking at Lawrence for a return in the near future.

Lawrence has been a stalwart for the Cowboys defense, through ups and downs, as a true star on the edge that can stop the run and get after the passer. He’s an absolute stud and, if he’s on the field, Parsons can become more of a chess piece, the formations can be disguised more and the Dallas defense simply becomes more effective overall.
