NFL power rankings, Week 13: Patriots roll, Steelers stifled
While the other three teams in the NFC West all sport winning records, Pete Carroll’s squad is immersed in the franchise’s worst season since 2011 when the Seahawks finished 7-9. For the first time in a career that dates back to 2021, Russell Wilson did not start every game – missing three contests.
Both the Seattle offense and defense are near the bottom of the league in terms of total yards per game. The ‘Hawks are just 1-4 at home.
Off a pair of embarrassing losses to the Cowboys and Patriots, the Falcons made the short trip to Jacksonville for a rare clash with the Jaguars. Underrated Cordarrelle Paterson ran 16 times for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
And Matt Ryan threw for 190 yards and a score (1 interception) as his team owned a 21-3 midway through the third quarter. There was a little angst as the Jaguars narrowed the gap to seven points but Atlanta held on for the win.
The Bears were not only looking to end a five-game losing streak but were hoping to sweep the rival Lions for the third time in four years. Matt Nagy got a big outing from veteran quarterback Andy Dalton, who did serve up one interception but threw for 317 yards and one touchdown.
Chicago trailed 14-13 in the fourth quarter but used an 18-play, 69-yard drive in the final 8:30 to set up kicker’s Cairo Santos’ game-winning 28-yard field goal at the gun.
The Giants’ defense showed promise late last season but has been inconsistent at best this year. But on Sunday against the rival Eagles, Patrick Graham’s unit bent to the total of 332 total yards (208 rushing) but allowed only seven points to the Birds.
That’s because Big Blue came up with four takeaways – including three interceptions of quarterback Jalen Hurts. New York managed only 264 total yards but Joe Judge’s team played turnover-free ball.
