3 Tony Pollard trade destinations if Cowboys choose to keep Ezekiel Elliott
2. Miami Dolphins
In all honesty, it remains somewhat baffling as to why the Dolphins have refused to commit to Myles Gaskin as the featured running back in their offense. For the most part, the former Washington Huskies star has performed well when given ample opportunities.
But regardless of the reasoning behind it, it’s abundantly clear that Miami would prefer to have another option in the backfield moving forward. Yes, whoever that back is needs the offensive line to improve — as does young Tua Tagovailoa — but an upgrade at running back would certainly help the offense as well.
The dual-threat ability as a runner and pass-catcher that Pollard provides in addition to his explosiveness could be enticing. Pairing that with another young playmaker in Jaylen Waddle would give the Dolphins a dynamic core of skill position players to grow with.
1. Baltimore Ravens
First things first, this isn’t an overreaction to the Ravens’ running back situation in the 2021 season. We all know that Baltimore was planning on J.K. Dobbins being the lead back but injuries derailed that plan — and then derailed Plans B and C with Gus Edwards and Justice Hill also getting hurt and ruled out for the year.
However, we’ve seen throughout Lamar Jackson’s career that the Ravens offense is at its most dangerous when they are cycling in running backs in a top-heavy committee. Subsequently, when you then consider the possibility of a Dobbins-Pollard combo, it’s hard not to be intrigued.
With two playmakers that can both run and catch with high effectiveness while also having the ability to break off a big play at any moment in tandem with Jackson’s own rushing ability, Baltimore would be a nightmare for defenses. This is a move the Ravens would have to consider.
