Yankees rumors: Kyle Schwarber makes a lot of sense

Schwarber isn’t exactly a great fit on the Yankees current roster, especially since they have the DH position filled permanently with Giancarlo Stanton. Yet, that didn’t stop the Red Sox last year when they traded for him at the deadline.

In 41 games with Boston, Schwarber slashed .291/.435/.522. The Yankees and Brian Cashman have flirted with bringing Schwarber aboard for years, and assuming he can stay healthy for a full season, stealing him from the Red Sox would make matters extra sweet.

If Schwarber isn’t a good enough fit, then perhaps Cashman can try Kris Bryant on for size. Bryant isn’t an elite defender by any means (just ask the Giants), but he’s good enough in the outfield and at third base to receive consistent at-bats in any lineup. And considering what he can do with the lumber, Bryant can make any ballpark look small, let alone Yankee Stadium.

Bryant made the All-Star team last year, slashing .265/.353/.481 across 144 games with the Cubs and Giants. The Yankees will take that level of production, but will they pay for it?
