2. Texas A&M Aggies

Coming into this season, one of the big questions for Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M was how the Aggies would go about replacing longtime starting quarterback Kellen Mond. They had options with Haynes King and Zach Calzada and, though not by choice, they got a look at both young players throughout the 2021 campaign.

King won the starting job and looked fine, albeit with some growing pains on display as was to be expected. However, an injury forced him to the sidelines and Calzada into action. While the young signal-caller did help the Aggies upset Alabama in the game of his life, the overall performance of Calzada was definitely a rollercoaster experience as he lacked consistency as the starter.

All of that is to say that Fisher is still lacking a surefire stud at quarterback which, by the measure of many analysts, is one of the few things holding Texas A&M back from competing seriously for not just College Football Playoff spots but for National Championships as well.

Quinn Ewers, however, is that type of young quarterback that has the raw ability and potential to take this program to the next level. He possesses legitimate No. 1 overall NFL draft pick potential when you see all he has to offer and inserting him into the mix in College Station would be an earth-shaking event for the SEC West.
