Should the Vikings want to seek out a coach with some more experience in the NFL, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll would be an interesting option to consider. Daboll has coached around the NFL and has helped make an impact for a championship winning Alabama Crimson Tide team.

He’s got some impressive credentials.

The 46-year-old Daboll has been coaching in some capacity or another for over 20 years. Daboll got his start as a volunteer assistant for William & Mary back in 1997 and, after a stop at Michigan State for a few seasons, was eventually able to make the move to the New England Patriots in 2000.

Daboll stuck with the Patriots for a few years before moving around the NFL, making stops at the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, and Kansas City Chiefs before returning to New England in 2013.

Daboll stayed there until 2017, when he took over as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, and then returned to the NFL to be the architect of Buffalo’s offense. The Bills currently have one of the league’s best offenses, averaging 29.6 points per game, and they’ve got a real shot to be a Super Bowl contender this season if that offensive production continues.

If the Vikings are looking to change their identity and move on from the less-than-stellar sort of success they’ve had under Zimmer, Daboll should be on their list.
