NCAA transfer portal predictions for Quinn Ewers, Spencer Rattler, Zach Evans and more
By John Buhler
Former Oklahoma wide receiver Jadon Haselwood has committed to Arkansas.
Dillon Gabriel certainly made a name for himself quarterbacking the UCF Knights. He was the one to take over the reins of the offense once McKenzie Milton suffered a life-changing leg injury. Gabriel had great success playing for Josh Heupel in Orlando, but did not seem to be a good fit playing for Gus Malzahn as a junior. Injuries aside, it made sense for Gabriel to move on from UCF.
Even with the news of Ole Miss Rebels offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby leaving Oxford to be Brent Venables’ offensive coordinator at Oklahoma, the fit is too good for Gabriel to not seriously consider Ole Miss. Starting quarterback Matt Corral is expected to turn pro and be a first-round pick. Lane Kiffin will be running the offense, and Gabriel could be the Rebels’ perfect fit for 2022.
Prediction: Ole Miss
What a year it was for former Oklahoma starting quarterback Spencer Rattler. The preseason favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and be the No. 1 overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2022 NFL Draft not only lost his starting job at OU, but he is hitting the transfer portal. While Arizona State seemed like an ideal fit for the Phoenix native, that is not going to happen now.
So with Sun Devils quarterback Jayden Daniels returning to Tempe for another season, that means someone else could land Rattler in the portal. While Ole Miss could be interesting, as would LSU, Rattler may want to go back to the West Coast to reinvent himself. Should Bruins starter Dorian Thompson-Robinson decide to turn pro, Chip Kelly should get Rattler’s commitment in the portal.
Prediction: UCLA
