NCAA transfer portal predictions for Quinn Ewers, Spencer Rattler, Zach Evans and more
By John Buhler
Former Oregon offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia has committed to BYU.
Eli Ricks‘ dip into the transfer portal has been a fascinating one. The Ohio State Buckeyes were once thought to be his likeliest destination, but with Ryan Day and the entire defensive back room killing that notion, it leaves open three possibilities for Ricks to resurface at: Alabama, Georgia and USC. There are reasons to go to all three, but one has to be the new frontrunner.
Transferring in-division is always a bad look, but Ricks knows what Nick Saban is about in Tuscaloosa from his time in the SEC West. Georgia would be a good spot with Kirby Smart being an elite recruiter and defensive backs coach. However, it is hard to see the Rancho Cucamonga, California native not being intrigued by Lincoln Riley taking over at USC. This one just feels right.
Prediction: USC
Quinn Ewers lasted a grand total of one semester at Ohio State. The former top quarterback from the 2022 class reclassified so that he could leave high school a full year early to capitalize on NIL money. Of course, he played sparingly for Ohio State and hit the transfer portal after one semester in Columbus. Despite the obvious Tate Martell vibes he is giving off, Ewers is one hot commodity.
The expectation is for the Southland, Texas native to return to The Lone Star State. While Texas A&M and Texas Tech think they have a chance to land him, how are the Red Raiders and the Aggies going to compete with the supposed first-round pick NIL money Ewers would get if he goes to Austin? The best quarterback in Texas should play at Texas anyway, so this makes sense.
Prediction: Texas
