Pittsburgh Steelers: 2011 AFC Wildcard vs Denver Broncos
Ah, yes. That time Tim Tebow led the Broncos to the playoffs and upset the Steelers in overtime.
The Steelers started off strong. They held a 6-0 lead after the first quarter, but then Denver took over the game before halftime. Tebow threw a touchdown to Eddie Royal, and ran for a touchdown of his own later on in the quarter. Two Matt Prater field goals gave the Broncos a 20-6 halftime lead.
Pittsburgh rallied back in the second half. Mike Wallace ran for a touchdown on an end around, and Ben Roethlisberger threw a touchdown to Jericho Cotchery in the fourth quarter to tie the game. Then overtime came and, oh no. On the first play from scrimmage, Tebow hit Demaryius Thomas on a crosser, and 80 yards later he was in the end zone. The Broncos pulled off the upset over a Steelers team that was in the Super Bowl the year before.
Denver would go on to lose in convincing fashion to the Patriots in the Divisional Round in Foxboro, but the run that Tebow led them on in 2011 took the league by storm, and he left Pittsburgh in his wake.
