3 reasons the Chiefs are the AFC favorites again
By Byron Smith
The rest of the AFC has bigger issues present
The biggest hurdle the Chiefs have taking the top seed in the AFC is their early-season losses to other divisional leaders. The tight race atop the AFC makes the tiebreakers even more important, and Kansas City has lost most of them.
However, that only becomes an issue if the race remains tight, which seems unlikely.
The Baltimore Ravens are starting to feel their abundance of injuries catch up with them. The Buffalo Bills have forgotten the team they were early in the season which is not helping them in the extremely tough stretch of their schedule. The Tennessee Titans are without Derrick Henry until the playoffs, which makes every game a struggle.
The New England Patriots are probably the most put-together team atop the AFC besides the Chiefs, but they have a rough schedule coming after the bye week. Games against the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills will test Mac Jones and Co., and even the final game of the season against the Miami Dolphins on South Beach is not guaranteed.
The Chiefs have a favorable schedule and a healthy roster that is humming, putting them in a position to take the top seed in the next few weeks and never give it back.
