3 NFL quarterbacks who should be benched after Week 14

Taylor Heinicke did not look like a franchise quarterback vs. the Cowboys defense
Taylor Heinicke may have exited Sunday’s 27-20 home loss to the Dallas Cowboys due to injury, but he unfortunately left the door open for Kyle Allen to take possibly the job from him. Though the Washington Football Team made it a game with a crazy pick-six of Dak Prescott late, Heinicke showed us that he is probably not the long-term answer under center in the nation’s capital.
Heinicke completed 11-of-25 passes for 122 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It should be noted that the bulk of his passing numbers came on a 44-yard touchdown strike to Cam Sims when Washington was already down big. While Allen may get credited for Washington’s comeback attempt, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, as Heinicke lost this one.
Washington is still alive in the NFC Wild Card race at 6-7, but not being able to count on its quarterback play limits the team’s overall ceiling. The worst part in all of this is Washington’s defense looks to be close to what it was a year ago. To make matters even worse, this is not a deep quarterback draft coming up and Washington is in dire need of adding a better signal-caller.
Heinicke has played well at times this year, but the variance he demonstrates is a bit concerning.
