5 ideal transfer destinations for Texas QB Casey Thompson

Oklahoma

Thompson is from Oklahoma. His father and older brother, Kendal, played for the Sooners. Now Thompson is looking for a new home and Oklahoma is in the middle of a major change on offense.

New head coach Brent Venables brought in Jeff Lebby from Ole Miss to run the OU offense. Lebby might already have his quarterback in Caleb Williams but rumors of the former five-star quarterback leaving to join Lincoln Riley at USC persist. If the Sooners need a new quarterback, convincing Thompson to trade burnt orange for crimson and cream would be a plus.

TCU

Almost immediately after Thompson put his name in the transfer portal, Trey Scott of 247Sports put a Crystal Ball prediction in for TCU.

Thompson would have competition at TCU with QB Max Duggan returning for his senior season in 2022 and Chandler Morris waiting in the wings. Still, Duggan is coming off foot surgery and new head coach Sonny Dykes will have to find his guy either way.

UCF

The Golden Knights lost quarterback Dillon Gabriel to the transfer portal so they have a place open for a veteran passer like Thompson. They added Joey Gatewood as a transfer from Kentucky but Thompson would have a clear edge with his track record at Texas.
