Texas Longhorns quarterback Casey Thompson entered the transfer portal with an eye on taking over a starting job somewhere else.

Casey Thompson had to have seen the writing on the wall with Quinn Ewers transferring into Texas from Ohio State.

The Longhorns starting quarterback had 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 12 games in 2021 with 2,113 yards and a passer rating of 154.67. Those numbers were solid but Ewers’ arrival was almost certain to take Thompson down a peg in the depth chart.

So now it’s time for him to explore his options with several schools standing out early.

The Cornhuskers lost Adrian Martinez to the transfer portal so they could be in the market for a veteran figure to compete with Logan Smothers in 2022.

Ole Miss
