2. Bills OC Brian Daboll with Pitt QB Kenny Pickett

If we are looking at the 2022 Texans going all 2019 Arizona Cardinals on us and getting rid of their head coach/quarterbacking pairing after one season, the best bet would have to be on hiring offensive coordinator Brian Daboll away from the Buffalo Bills and then taking Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Kenny Pickett out of Pitt very high in this upcoming spring’s NFL Draft.

Daboll is one of those coordinators who is clearly biding his time to find the best spot to become a first time NFL head coach. He could be a serious candidate to go to Chicago, Jacksonville or Las Vegas in this upcoming cycle. However, he needs the right type of quarterback to give himself the best chance at success. Pickett projects as the best signal-caller in the 2022 NFL Draft, so maybe?

As far as what Pickett could be at the NFL level, he offers a little bit of that Derek Carr/Deshaun Watson prototype. Take the best attributes of both, and maybe that’s what Pickett could be? More importantly, his ability to make plays with his arms and his legs could have him as a lesser version of what Daboll currently has in Buffalo in Josh Allen. Pickett won’t likely bust, so this could work.

Though he has thrived in a harsh northern climate, Pickett might get the best results professionally playing for a dome team in the southern United States.
