2022 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars add an elite edge rusher
Picks No. 19 through 22
The Philadelphia Eagles are in good shape for the 2021 NFL season, as well as the future, as they could sneak into the playoffs this season. Also, they hold three first-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, so this is a franchise that is headed in the right direction.
The first pick for the Eagles comes at pick No. 19, and with it, they should look to bolster their secondary. The Cincinnati Bearcats have made the CFP on the strength of a dominating secondary, led by Sauce Gardner, who would be an excellent addition to this Eagles defensive backfield.
The Eagles will pick back-to-back in our latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft, and after focusing on the defense at pick No. 19, they go on the offensive here at No. 20 overall. The Eagles have found themselves a franchise quarterback in Jalen Hurts, but if he is to continue to progress, they have to give him more weapons in the passing game.
Enter Chris Olave from Ohio State, a dynamic playmaker who would be an excellent complement to 2021 first-round pick, DeVonta Smith. Smith is having himself an outstanding rookie season, fresh off winning the Heisman last year, and Olave and he would give Hurts a solid young nucleus at wideout moving forward.
The Miami Dolphins have been one of the more interesting teams in all of football this season, as they have now accomplished something no other team has ever done. In only 15 games during the 2021 season, the Dolphins have had a seven-game losing streak, and a seven-game winning streak, and are currently alive in the AFC Playoff picture.
Here, the Dolphins select with the No. 21 overall pick, and it is from the San Francisco 49ers. With this pick, the Dolphins get young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa another weapon in the passing game, teaming Jahan Dotson with the impressive rookie, Jaylen Waddle as the future in South Beach.
The New England Patriots are one of the favorites to make a legitimate run to the Super Bowl this season, which is incredible considering where they were a year ago today. Bill Belichick has his team once again towards the top of the AFC, and when all is said and done, they could be one of the last teams standing.
Picking late in the first round, the Patriots decide to get a weapon for rookie quarterback Mac Jones, who has been outstanding in Year 1 for the Pats in 2021. Jones is a guy who is going to lead this next era of Patriots football, and throwing the football to Treylon Burks will help in his development.
