Cowboys bold predictions, Micah Parsons

4. Micah Parsons will get a strip-sack

Parsons wasn’t able to notch a sack last week against Arizona, but he did manage to disrupt the Cardinals’ attack with two tackles for loss. His speed off the edge will be too much for the Eagles offensive line to handle in this matchup.

Yes, Philadelphia’s offensive coaching staff will place a big premium on giving their offensive tackles help against Dallas’ premier-pass rusher, but that strategy won’t hold up for four quarters. Parsons is going to find a way to pressure Hurts before the night is through.

The bold prediction here isn’t just that he’ll manage to get back on the sack train. Instead, it’s that he’ll force Hurts to put the ball on the ground. For all Hurts’ talent as a runner, he still has a nasty habit of holding the ball away from his body when he gets out on the edge. The Cowboys’ defensive coaching staff will emphasize that weakness to their squad in practice this week.

Forcing more turnovers is the next step in Parsons’ development as one of the most disruptive defenders in all of football. Registering a strip-sack on Hurts will be a quality step in the right direction for the talented rookie.
