3 worst calls of Week 18: T.J. Watt robbed of sack record

Watt tied Michael Strahan for the most sacks in a single season with 22.5. However, should he have broken the record altogether?

The Wisconsin product appeared to sack Tyler Huntley early in the game to at least clinch a tie with Strahan. Yet upon further review, the league claimed Huntley intended to run the ball. Huh?

The Ravens center was guilty of a bad snap, leaving Huntley to fend for himself after picking the ball up. In the end, Watt was given a forced fumble, but not a sack. Nope. Not even half a sack to break the record.

The NFL could still correct this scoring error, as Watt clearly rushed Huntley, who was attempting to get rid of the ball. That, in every sense of the word, is a sack. Just because it was a little easier than usual for Watt doesn’t make it any less viable.

Later in the game, Watt would actually tie Strahan’s record with a sack the league couldn’t take away if they tried.

Nonetheless, when the officials rob a player of history — and in this case, a significant defensive single-season record — it should go down as one of the worst calls of the season.
