The Las Vegas Raiders have a decision to make with interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, whose future with the franchise is far from certain.

Despite parting ways with head coach Jon Gruden partway through the 2021 season, the Raiders are in the playoffs thanks to the efforts of interim head coach Rich Bisaccia.

That doesn’t mean Bisaccia is likely to turn this audition into a permanent gig.

Adam Schefter appeared on Mad Dog Sports Radio on Wednesday with an update on Bisaccia’s future with the Las Vegas and it doesn’t sound optimistic.

Adam Schefter doesn’t think Rich Bisaccia is in line for Raiders job

“I don’t think that [Bisaccia] believes that he has a chance to keep the job, which is unfortunate because he’s done a great job,” Schefter said. “They’ve faced a tremendous amount of adversity. He’s well regarded and well respected amongst his players and the people in the organization.”

While Schefter mused briefly over the possibility of Bisaccia doing enough during the playoffs to convince Mark Davis to keep him on, it sounds like the Raiders’ owner is getting ready to make a new hire.

“I don’t think he believes he’s safe and I think they believe that they’re going to be making a change,” Schefter said.

Bisaccia was named the Raiders interim head coach on Oct. 11 after Gruden resigned. He’s gone 7-5 as the interim, finishing out the regular season with four straight wins to earn a playoff spot.

Las Vegas will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals on Saturday. Bisaccia’s hopes of earning the head coaching job probably hinge on winning that game and more beyond it.

The Raiders haven’t been in the playoffs since 2016. They haven’t won a playoff game since 2002.
