Cardinals should trade for former division rival Adam Frazier

Adam Frazier was traded to the San Diego Padres in 2021 after almost five seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. In November, Frazier was traded to the Seattle Mariners. He is arbitration-eligible this season and will enter free agency in 2023.

Frazier plays second base and outfield. In 2021, he played in 155 games hitting .305/.368/.411 with a +114 wRC. He had five home runs, five triples, and 36 doubles with 43 RBI. He also walked 48 times.

Cardinals’ new manager Oli Marmol has talked much about playing situationally. Frazier would be a good situational addition for the Cardinals. He can take over at second if Tommy Edman is needed elsewhere. He can also help Tyler O’Neill if he needs a break or a night as the designated hitter. Frazier, himself, could be another option for the Cardinals at DH.

Frazier is a good, scrappy player with quite a bat on his shoulder. It would be interesting to see him play regularly in St. Louis.
