Will Rob Gronkowski decide to retire after Tom Brady news?
With Tom Brady retiring from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s hard to see tight end Rob Gronkowski playing another season.
With the retirement of one goat probably comes another.
On Saturday, news broke that legendary quarterback Tom Brady was retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons. After spending 20 years with the New England Patriots and winning six Super Bowls while reaching nine, Brady played his final two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, capturing another Lombardi Trophy in 2020.
Now, with Brady walking away, it appears likely one of his most talented teammates will go with him.
Is Rob Gronkowski going to retire with Tom Brady stepping away?
Earlier this week, Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski told TMZ Sports that while he hadn’t decided whether to play a 12th NFL season, he would decline to do so if needing to make a decision immediately. With Brady now entering the net chapter of his life, Gronkowski coming back to play with Kyle Trask, Blaine Gabbert or a rookie seems incredibly optimistic for Tampa Bay fans.
Should Gronkowski retire, he’ll almost certainly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Through 11 years, Gronkowski won four Super Bowls, was named a First-Tee All-Pro four times, earned five Pro Bowl nods and was honored as a member of the 2010’s All-Decade Team. Gronkowski also finishes with 621 catches, 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns in the regular season, should he have played his final down.
In short, he’s be assured of going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame with Brady, making it one of the greatest classes of our lifetimes.
