Tom Brady is retiring from football, but it is up in the air if he will sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the New England Patriots.

Tom Brady may have spent 20 years as the New England Patriots quarterback, but there are no guarantees he will sign a one-day contract to retire as a member of the organization.

Brady’s breakup with the Patriots organization was a very public one two offseasons ago. At one time, he may have wanted to spend his entire career with one organization, but the Patriots were not interested in letting him quarterback their franchise into his mid-40s. He left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022 NFL free agency, made the playoffs twice and won Super Bowl 55.

Though he may still have a good relationship with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Brady did not mention the Patriots once in his lengthy retirement post on Instagram Tuesday morning.

Tom Brady retires: Could he sign a 1-day contract to retire with the Patriots?

While anything and everything is possible, Brady had every opportunity to thank those in the Patriots organization for all they accomplished in their 20 years together in that lengthy Instagram post. Again, he may have something bigger in the works when it comes to the Patriots. Mike Giardi did say on Good Morning Football that he believes “something is coming down the pike” with regard to Brady signing a one-day contract to officially retire as a member of the Patriots.

Yes, there may have been friction with how things ended between Brady and the Patriots two years ago, but it would be the perfect bow on an illustrious career for him to sign a one-day contract to retire with the franchise he is best associated with. There may be water under the bridge, but the NFL‘s greatest player cannot entire retirement with beef towards his former team.

This is a fluid situation, but one that suggests Brady could potentially sign a one-day contract.
