1. The upper crust of the NFC outside of Los Angeles is completely in flux now

This is the Rams’ biggest advantage towards repeating. The rest of the upper crust of the NFC is in flux. The San Francisco 49ers lost their offensive coordinator and presumably their starting quarterback. Aaron Rodgers is not guaranteed to return to the Green Bay Packers. Tom Brady just hung up the spikes. Do we really want to trust the Dallas Cowboys in a big spot? No, we do not!

While the Rams may play in the best division in football, the 49ers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks are all looking up at them. The NFC South will be an unmitigated disaster next year. Though the Cowboys should be good over in the NFC East, the NFC North could be dreadful if Rodgers leaves for an AFC-contending team like the Denver Broncos or the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With the AFC having many excellent teams from the Cincinnati Bengals to the Kansas City Chiefs to the Buffalo Bills to the Tennessee Titans, the Rams only have to beat one of them to repeat. Assuming Rodgers goes back to Green Bay, the NFC comes down to the Rams, the Packers, the Cowboys and maybe one other NFC West team. The Rams have to like their chances of repeating.

Anything short of getting to the NFC Championship Game again will be seen as a disappointment.
