Braves rumors: Atlanta must focus on World Series repeat

Freddie Freeman has bogged down the entire Atlanta Braves offseason, but the truth is, they have many more holes to address should they wish to repeat as World Series champions.

The Braves need more outfield help, they must decide on a full-time DH and whether that’s going to be Marcell Ozuna or not, they still need some starting pitching and the bullpen could use some work. Needless to say, I probably missed a few concerns in that rundown.

Freeman will get most the headlines, but the Braves’ offseason moves cannot stop there. Once the lockout ends, there will be a mad dash to acquire talented players. Several former Braves — including Jorge Soler and Joc Pederson — remain on the free agent market. Will the re-sign in Atlanta along with (hopefully) Freeman to make another run?

Alex Anthopoulos has his work cut out for him, and because Freeman has taken up so much of the Braves’ time and effort over the course of months, they’re probably a few steps behind some teams.

It’s time to go to work.
