Scouting Report. WR. Philadelphia Eagles. player. Pick Analysis. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. 2. 54

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is not a productive NFL wide receiver in the slightest

Though he has contributed on special teams to at least be somewhat salvageable, the Eagles did not take wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside in the second round out of Stanford in 2019 to be a career special teams player. In three seasons with the Birds, he has 16 catches for 290 yards and a touchdown. That is it. Entering the final year of his rookie deal, expect for him to be cut this spring.

Arcega-Whiteside will make $1,574,231 in salary and signing bonus money this year. The good news is the only dead cap hit hit for him will be that signing bonus allotment of $405,222. Philadelphia could free up $1,169,009 in cap space by parting ways with its ineffective second-round receiver. While this is not a ton of freed up cap space, every bit will count at some point.

Outside of Miles Sanders at running back, the Eagles’ 2019 draft class has been horrific. So it is no shocking that guys like Dillard and Arcega-Whiteside could be cut before completing their rookie deals. The most surprising thing in all of this is how badly Roseman misses on these picks. Players taken in the first three rounds are expected to be starters and Pro Bowlers. He messed up badly.

At this point, it would be more shocking if Arcega-Whiteside was on the roster heading into camp.
