JuJu Smith-Schuster could bring along Mac Jones with the New England Patriots

This potential landing spot for Smith-Schuster would have made a bit more sense if Josh McDaniels had stayed as the New England Patriots offensive coordinator. New England has had a miserable time of evaluating wide receiver talent in the draft. Though they have had success at finding good players in that position group in free agency, they need to get Mac Jones more help.

While Jones was by far and away the best rookie quarterback of his draft class, he does not have all that high of a ceiling to begin with. Though he is not going to bust, surrounding him with enough talent will ensure this new era of Patriots football to be a successful one. The question is if Smith-Schuster has the mental fortitude to go play for a no-nonsense coach like Bill Belichick.

In the past, there have been players that most people outside of Foxborough did not think would work out with New England, but were triumphant success stories. Though the Steelers and the Patriots are two of the NFL’s best organizations, they have a different way of going about things. Smith-Schuster could join the Patriots, but there are better landing spots out there for him, too.

The Patriots are a dark-horse contender to land him in free agency, but not much more than that.
