JuJu Smith-Schuster will have plenty of suitors in his high-profile NFL free agency.
After spending his entire NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, JuJu Smith-Schuster could be heading elsewhere in 2022 NFL free agency.
The former USC star wide receiver has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in Steelers uniform. While he was a sensational sophomore in 2018, he has yet to play in a Pro Bowl since. Though he re-upped with the Steelers last offseason, it might be time for him to see what else is out there. No matter what happens, Smith-Schuster’s free agency will be fascinating to watch.
Here are five teams who could be in the mix to sign the talented wide receiver this offseason.

The Kansas City Chiefs had interest in adding JuJu Smith-Schuster last offseason
Even though the Kansas City Chiefs have plenty of wide receivers and skill-position players than they know what to do with, they have not appropriately replaced Sammy Watkins in their receiving corps. Had Smith-Schuster not re-upped with the Steelers last season, the likeliest place for him to land would have been with Kansas City. Since they may still have interest, why not pursue him?
Though the Chiefs offense runs through Patrick Mahomes rifling passes to Travis Kelce at tight end and to Tyreek Hill wherever he lines up, there is room to be had for Smith-Schuster in this receiving corps. He would be taking balls away from the likes of Mecole Hardman and Byron Pringle. While Smith-Schuster would be a luxury item, the Chiefs can afford to add him in 2022.
Ultimately, the Chiefs will probably put a bigger emphasis on its potential free-agent targets internally, especially in the defensive backfield. They also could use one more year of fine-tuning along the offensive line. In short, the Chiefs have other more pressing needs than overpaying for a wide receiver like Smith-Schuster coming off an injury-riddled season. They still may do it, though.
For the sake of TikTok videography, let’s hope Smith-Schuster gets to work with the Mahomeses.
