Scouting Report. AFC. 3.. player. 30. Pick Analysis. East. New York Jets

The New York Jets drafted the quarterback they see being the future of their franchise in Zach Wilson. He was thrown to the wolves in his rookie year, but did show promise at points. The Jets need to give him help in his second year, especially if they want to make a push for the playoffs.

New York’s running game averaged 98.1 yards per game (sixth-fewest). Rookie Michael Carter was the team’s leading rusher, as he recorded 639 yards and four touchdowns on 147 carries.

Looking at the Jets’ depth chart for 2022, the Jets have four running backs on the depth chart. Veteran Tevin Coleman is an unrestricted free agent. It would certainly be a benefit for Wilson if general manager Joe Douglas were to give him a player to lean upon.

New York has the cap space to make a run at Fournette, as they have $44 million available for them to use this offseason. With a quarterback on a rookie contract, this is the time for the Jets to make a run before Wilson is due for a new contract.
