During the Karbach Round Rock Classic, the Stanford Cardinal found the perfect opportunity to show off a bit against some truly great college baseball teams.

One of the greatest things about the early portions of the college baseball season is the truly bizarre results that are often present. Take the Virginia Cavaliers, for example. They absolutely pummeled Cornell, sweeping that series with ease. Virginia ended up scoring a total of 60 runs this weekend while Cornell managed to get a grand total of 12 runs.

Or, take a look at the Long Beach State Dirtbags. Long Beach State, fresh off a series win over the defending national champs, ended up getting swept by Sacramento State. College baseball is chaos and college baseball is beautiful.

Here’s what the college baseball rankings look like this week.

NCAA baseball rankings: Teams on the rise

Stanford Cardinal

The Stanford Cardinal ended up having a fantastic trip to Texas this weekend. During the Karbach Round Rock Classic, Stanford took care of business as the Cardinal won each of its games with ease. The Cardinal beat Louisiana 5-1, thumped Indiana 13-0 and then handled the Arkansas Razorbacks, beating one of the SEC’s best 5-0. This Stanford team looks really good and could be dangerous down the stretch of this season.

Others worth noting: Tulane, Georgia Tech

Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns

While Stanford really enjoyed its trip to the Texas Hill Country, the Ragin’ Cajuns had a miserable time in Round Rock. Louisiana ended up losing all three games, falling to Stanford, getting blown out by Indiana and then losing to Arkansas. The Ragin’ Cajuns could still be a solid team, but this weekend wasn’t really a great showing for them.

Others worth noting: Long Beach State
