1. Trade Jordan Love

Is this strictly necessary for Super Bowl contention? Maybe not. But it’s still a move the Packers need to make once Rodgers is back in the fold for good.

Rodgers doesn’t seem to hold it against Love that the Packers wasted a draft pick on him. Having him serve as a backup this season wouldn’t be a problem in that sense.

However, it just doesn’t make that much sense to persist with a quarterback whose value is only going to diminish over the next couple of years.

The upcoming quarterback draft class isn’t particularly exciting. The pool of free agents doesn’t exactly move the needle either. So long as Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson remain in limbo, there are a lot of teams out there in need of a quarterback but without many good options.

Surely Green Bay can entice someone to part with a draft pick for the young passer. Even if it’s not a first-rounder, it’s better than nothing.

The Packers are better off bringing in a cheap, veteran backup than continuing to bank on the vague hope of Love being a realistic backup plan for Rodgers.
