The Seattle Mariners got a steal picking up All-Star outfielder Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds are offloading assets and the Seattle Mariners are benefitting from it big time.

On Monday, the Mariners completed a trade to bring in All-Star left fielder Jesse Winker and one-time All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suarez, per multiple reports including Jeff Passan.

In return, the Reds are getting outfielder Jake Fraley and pitchers Justin Dunn and Brandon Williamson, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Details of Mariners-Reds Jesse Winker trade

Winker was a 2021 All-Star after hitting a career-best 24 home runs and 71 RBI. He batted .305/.394/.556 with an OPS of .949.

Suarez was an All-Star in 2018 but he’s experienced a bit of a career slump since then, leading the league in strikeouts in 2019. His 2021 batting dipped to .198/.286/.428. However, he hit 31 home runs and 79 RBI and his efficiency numbers in the second half of the season were significantly better than in the front half.

Seattle picked up two All-Star caliber players aged 28 and 30 while giving up relatively little.

Fraley is 26 but wasn’t spectacular in his 78 appearances last year. Dunn was 1-3 with an ERA of 3.75 in 11 games. Williamson is a prospect who spent most of 2021 in AA.
