The F1 calendar is going to keep expanding to as many as 30 races with a Grand Prix expected to be announced for Las Vegas soon.

The 2022 F1 season will give American racing fans two opportunities to watch a Grand Prix in person. By 2023, there could be three. By 2024? Who knows.

This week, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali admitted the sport is looking to expand to 24 or even 30 races as interest grows, according to ESPN.

Increasingly, it looks like a foregone conclusion Las Vegas will be one of the race weekends added to a future schedule.

F1 is coming to Las Vegas in 2023

On Thursday, Owen Poindexter of Front Office Sports reported that a race in Las Vegas will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Vegas race is set to take place on Thanksgiving weekend in 2023. The plan is to “use part of the city streets, in and around the Las Vegas Strip, with pedestrian bridges used as viewing areas.”

On top of that, “F1 has also shown interest in New York, according to Poindexter.

A New York race added to the slate already including Austin, Miami and Las Vegas would give the USA four races. That kind of expansion might not be in the cards particularly soon though.

Still, it’s crazy to think about how America is about to go from one F1 race per year to no less than three in such a short stretch of time.

As for this year’s schedule, the inaugural Miami Grand Prix is slated for May 8. The United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin is set for October 23.
