During his first game with the Los Angeles Angels, Noah Syndergaard paid tribute to Nick Adenhart, who passed away 13 years ago.

For the first time in over a decade, a Los Angeles Angels player is wearing the number 34 on their uniform.

Noah Syndergaard, who recently left the New York Mets and joined the Angels, is in the midst of his first game with Los Angeles and he’s making sure to pay tribute to Nick Adenhart, who passed away 13 years ago.

Adenhart, who was a member of the Angles in 2009, passed away after a tragic car crash that involved a drunk driver on April 9, 2009. Since his death, nobody with the Angels has worn No. 34. 13 years following the crash, Syndergaard is now wearing that number and also honoring Adenhart’s memory.

While Syndergaard has worn 34 previously in his career and he will wear it the remainder of the season, it does appear as if he and Adenhart’s family are all-in on honoring Adenhart and his memory this season with Syndergaard wearing the number going forward.

It’s heartwarming to see Adenhart’s family excited about and supportive of Syndergaard wearing 34 for the Angels. And there aren’t really many players better than Syndergaard who could wear the number and carry on Adenhart’s memory in the process.

It seems like a natural fit that Syndergaard is an incredibly dominant pitcher and Adenhart was a pitcher. It’s also great that Adenhart’s loved ones would want to see Syndergaard succeed throughout this season.

So far, in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Angels lead the Houston Astros 1-0. Syndergaard has made it through 4.0 innings pitched with a strikeout along with two hits and a walk.
