Dallas Cowboys Mock Draft – Third Round

WR. South Alabama. 88. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 123. Jalen Tolbert

It is fitting that the Cowboys’ third-round pick checks in at No. 88, a number that has become iconic for the franchise that employed Hall of Famer Michael Irvin and Dez Bryant at wide receiver. Dallas can look to find its next great receiver at 88 by tabbing South Alabama’s Jalen Tolbert.

A 6-foot-1 senior, Tolbert has drawn comparisons to Marvin Jones from NFL scouts. Competition level isn’t a concern for Tolbert since he held his own in matchups against cornerbacks from Tennessee, who struggled to contain him.

Advanced route-running is also a plus for Tolbert, who won’t need to fill Cooper’s shoes since CeeDee Lamb is widely expected to become Dallas’ top receiver. Tolbert can compete with Michael Gallup to become the second option in the passing game and his three-sport background make Tolbert a unique prospect at the position.

While he isn’t a flashy name like Jameson Williams, who could be available with Dallas’ first-round pick, Tolbert offers strong value since the Cowboys already have a solid foundation at wide receiver. Adding a guy who can become an elite WR2 at this juncture in the draft would be an excellent play for the Cowboys.
