Former NBA player makes his professional wrestling debut with AEW
Former NBA Player Satnam Singh made his debut last night, and it was not in the sport you would expect.
Professional athletes competing in other sports appear to be happening more regularly. The latest to swap sports is former NBA Player Satnam Singh, who made his AEW debut last night when he joined Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt in the ring to attack Samoa Joe.
According to Wrestling Headlines, Singh has been training at the Nightmare Factory for his debut, since signing with the AEW in September.
Singh’s career swap is similar to another former NBA player, Nate Robinson. Robinson made his professional boxing debut against YouTuber Jake Paul. Unlike Singh, Robinson’s debut did not end so well. Robinson was knocked out by Paul in the second round.
Satnam Singh was once a Dallas Maverick
Singh made history as the first Indian to be drafted to an NBA team. Singh was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks in 2015. He would play two years in the G-league with the Mavericks affiliate, Texas Legends, starting in two of those games. In 2018 he signed with the St.John Edge, which is a part of the National Basketball League of Canada.
According to ESPN, in 2019, Singh failed an out-of-competition test in Bangalore, for the South Asian Games. The test was conducted by NADA. Singh tested positive for Higenamine. He was given a two-year ban by NADA that ended in NOV 2021.
