Here is Dan Dickerson’s radio call of Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera’s 3,000th hit.

It did not take long on Saturday afternoon for Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera to join the ranks of the 3,000 hit club.

The Tigers designated hitter became the 33rd player in MLB history to amass this many career hits. He took Colorado Rockies right-hander Antonio Senzatela’s offering in the bottom of the first inning to right field for a base knock. As great as it was to see on video, the audio of Dan Dickerson calling this magical moment on the Detroit Tigers Radio Network made it all the more special.

Though Cabrera was already a first-ballot hall of famer before this at-bat, he joined even more exclusive company with this single to the right side. He is now one of three players with 3,000 career hits, 500 career home runs and a career batting average greater than .300. The only other players in MLB history to accomplish that feat were none other than Hank Aaron and Willie Mays.

Congratulations on making baseball history and doing it in front of the home crowd in Detroit!
