NFL Rumors: Best landing spots for Tyrann Mathieu after NFL Draft
By John Buhler
Tyrann Mathieu would really help the Philadelphia Eagles’ secondary take flight
One team that has been linked to Mathieu for some time is the Philadelphia Eagles. While The Birds added themselves a pair of Dawgs in the front-seven during the NFL Draft, they could be one of the teams best equipped to add a Honey Badger at this stage of the game in free agency. Philadelphia had a great first year under Nick Sirianni, but with that comes loftier expectations.
If all goes right for the Eagles, they can win the NFC East over the hated Dallas Cowboys and possibly multiple playoff games. By trading for A.J. Brown, Philadelphia is giving Jalen Hurts every opportunity to prove he is a franchise quarterback. While Sirianni will devise a game plan to put his signal-caller in a position to succeed, getting a ballhawk on defense would really help him out.
The Eagles would be adding one of the most instinctive players in the history of the NFL to its defense should they be the ones to sign Mathieu this spring. Though he may have made his name playing elsewhere, Mathieu’s tough and physical brand of playing defensive back should make him a fan favorite right away if he does land with the Eagles. There are worse places for Mathieu to go.
Philadelphia may have an outside shot at getting to the NFC Championship game this NFL season.
