Arrest warrant issued for former Texas Longhorns, Seahawks star Earl Thomas
Former Seahawks, Ravens and Texas Longhorns star Earl Thomas is eyeing an NFL return but legal trouble in Texas might make that extremely unlikely.
Once upon a time, former Texas Longhorns star Earl Thomas was thriving as part of the Seattle Seahawks‘ vaunted Legion of Boom and one of the best safeties in the NFL. However, after a brief and relatively tumultuous tenure with the Ravens, he has been trying to make a comeback to the league.
New legal trouble, however, might make that even more unlikely than a less than sterling reputation that’s developed among teammates and coaches.
On Friday, it was reported that an arrest warrant has been issued for Thomas. Per the Austin American-Statesman, a warrant was signed by an Austin, Texas judge on April 27 but Thomas has not yet been booked in the Travis County Jail.
Earl Thomas: Arrest warrant issued for former Texas Longhorns, Seahawks star
The warrant issued for Thomas’ arrest states that the former NFL safety violated a court protective order multiple times in a 12-month stand, resulting in a third-degree felony charge against him.
Per the reports, Thomas sent threatening messages to a woman who had the protective order against him regarding her children. Thomas’ divorce attorney also spoke to the Austin American-Statesman to say he’d reached out to his client but had not received a respons. He also clarified that Thomas was communicating with his wife about seeing their children.
With this information now made public, one has to wonder how long it will be before Thomas is arrested and booked in jail. Regardless, it’s a sad decline for an NFL player who was beloved by many throughout his career.
