Barcelona are set to present Tottenham with an interesting question
Sergio Reguilon was a key figure for Tottenham this season, but Barcelona may make Spurs an offer they can’t refuse for the talented left back.
Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to make quite a few player purchases this summer, but Barcelona’s interest in Sergio Reguilon could force Spurs to make one they didn’t originally plan. The Spanish left back played a lot of football for the Premier League club this season, but he never seemed to be a perfect fit in Conte’s plans.
According to The Mirror, the La Liga giants are contemplating making a summer bid for Reguilon to replace Jordi Alba in their squad. Reguilon first moved to North London from Real Madrid who possess a buyback clause for the player this summer. A swoop from Barcelona might be a bitter pill for their Spanish rivals to swallow.

Tottenham are under no obligation to sell him to Barcelona at any specified price. If they want to pry Reguilon away from the Premier League club they’ll need to stump a substantial transfer fee.
It’s unclear just how much Barcelona are willing to offer. It’s equally unclear what sort of fee Tottenham might be interested in accepting. After all, Reguilon did serve as Conte’s starting left wing back for most of this season.
That doesn’t mean Spurs wouldn’t be willing to part with him if a tempting financial offer arrived. Young Englishman Ryan Sessegnon has shown flashes of real competence in relief of Reguilon late in the season. It’s easy to envision a scenario where Conte sanctions a Reguilon sale to secure funds needed to acquire a player he views as a better fit for his system.
Tottenham would need to purchase a new option to play the left wing back position if they are going to let Reguilon return to Spain. The club would need to feel like any potential Reguilon fee would more than cover what’s required to secure a partner for Sessegnon. That’s what makes the possibility of offloading Reguilon this summer such an intriguing question for the higher-ups at the North London club.

In the end, look for Daniel Levy to set a high price for Reguilon and stick with it. If he can’t turn a substantial profit on what it took to acquire him originally then Spurs will be content to keep him in their squad for another season. If Barcelona are willing to pay over the odds he could return to his native country this summer.
