4) MLB rumors: Why the Chicago White Sox could trade for Juan Soto

The Chicago White Sox have Adam Engel starting in right field for them regularly. Compared to Soto, it’s an incredibly underwhelming choice.

The White Sox have gotten good starting pitching this year and it should continue to only get better as their arms get healthier. Their offense has been weaker than many expected it could be. Right field and the DH spot are two of the biggest culprits.

Rather than bring in a big bat during the offseason, the White Sox put a lot of faith in what they already had. It hasn’t worked out too well as they are chasing after the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central.

One of the big obstacles in their way when it comes to acquiring Soto could be their lack of a single player in MLB.com’s top 100 prospects. Many of their best young players have already graduated from previous lists. They could always think about trading Andrew Vaughn in the deal. After all, if you’re picking up Soto, he becomes a little more expendable.

Any team trading for Soto would see their farm system torn apart by the Nationals in the deal. It’s still worth a trade even if all it brings is a single World Series.
