3) White Sox: Recently fired Joe Maddon would be a better option than Tony La Russa

The name Joe Maddon doesn’t have the same juice it did only a month ago. His Los Angeles Angels team seemed to give up on him after such a promising start. However, with the team struggling in the days after he was fired, it’s clear he wasn’t the problem.

Maddon may indeed become a candidate to manage the White Sox. Chicago already knows him well from his days with the Cubs. Like them and even the Tampa Bay Rays, the White Sox are a younger club with some high hopes for the future. That might be exactly what Maddon needs to succeed. When he has the time to mold players, the team tends to perform.

Maddon won with a low payroll in Tampa Bay and a much higher one in Chicago. The White Sox would fall into the latter category. They have an owner unafraid to spend money on his team. With help from some younger players as well, the White Sox have a great opportunity to remain one of the American League contenders for the next few seasons.

In 2022, managers don’t typically win games for teams but they definitely lose them. There’s no official count on how many games La Russa has lost for the White Sox. If he continues to make such dumb decisions, it might want to be a statistic to keep track of.
